A MoU has been signed between Friendship and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to start operation of a comprehensive maternity centre (CMC) at the site of Friendship’s basic clinic 6, at Rohingya Camp 7, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has constructed the facility, with all furniture and equipment being the property of DGHS. The site was deemed logistically and strategically ideal for conducting mother and child healthcare services, and so selected for this new facility.
DGHS has given Friendship the approval to operate the CMC from this facility with collaboration with a local team from, DGHS, e.g. Civil Surgeon of Cox’s Bazar and UH&FPO of Ukhiya. A small team from DGHS will be providing primary healthcare along with Friendship paediatric and Basic Clinic team from this facility. The land was handed over to UNHCR in November 2018 and construction was completed in April 2019. UNHCR handed over the facility to Friendship on 22nd of April 2019.
