Friendship is participating in the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP30) for the fifth consecutive year, and sixth time overall. The 30th edition of the UNFCCC conference will take place in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to November 21, 2025.

Delivering on Climate and Biodiversity Action: Leveraging COP30 outcomes in Belem for CBD COP17

The impact of locally-led nature-based solutions, now and in the future

| Description: | Based on Friendship’s South-North community-based model, the side-event will: – review the needs existing in Bangladesh, one of the most vulnerable countries, for flexible partnerships and long-term resources for climate adaptation; – foster dialogue on adaptation and nature finance channeled to local actors, with different perspectives from Luxembourg, France, Bangladesh and Conservation International; – address Bangladesh’s new NDC 3.0 in which the country intends to become a “seller of high integrity qualitative carbon credits”, hence implementing Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on carbon markets; – trigger interest in mobilizing additional resources to increase North-South solidarity and leverage further contributions from major institutional funders (GEF, GCF, Adaptation Fund, trust funds). |
