Syed Wasama Doja is a photographer and documentary filmmaker who has garnered an in-depth knowledge of wooden boats, boat making traditions and Bangladeshi culture thanks to his work with Contic and Friendship, as well as through his travels around the country. He has worked on the production of documentaries with the BBC, National Geographic, Thalassa, Ushuaïa TV, Goodplanet and Yann Arthus-Bertrand. He is also the manager of Contic, a riverine tourism company, specialising in cruises on traditional wooden boats of Bangladesh. His extensive knowledge of the lives of the master boat carpenters, the various boat-building techniques, and the stories of the rivers are vital in his work with the Cultural Preservation Sector.
