TANJINA SHARMIN

Deputy Director and Head of Communications

 

Tanjina Sharmin is a communication specialist with more than 17 years of experience, having performed in leadership roles in diverse industries, including media, telecommunications, government, and the development sector. She has in-depth experience and expertise in national and international communications—both internal and external, media relations, programme management, project implementation, gender sensitisation, public relations and crisis management.

Prior to joining Friendship, she worked as the Head of Communications of the Bangladesh Government’s Aspire to Innovate (a2i) programme for six years. A2i is led by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division with support from the Cabinet Division of Bangladesh.

She has closely collaborated with government officials in advocacy and communication on humanitarian issues. She has also worked on donor relations. She has coordinated with national and international media and in doing so has liaised with the senior leadership of international organisations to shape messaging and communication techniques. Her expertise and experience extend to designing and executing behaviour change campaigns within a complex environment. She has also facilitated media training for journalists and stakeholders.

Throughout her professional career, she has worked in important capacities with reputed organisations and institutions including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Information, RanksTel, NTV, and the BanglaVision TV channel. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s in Mass Communication and Journalism, the University of Dhaka.
