TANJINA SHARMIN

Assistant Director and Head of Communications

Tanjina Sharmin is a communication specialist with more than 13 years of multisectoral work experience, having performed in leadership roles in diverse industries, namely media, telecommunications, ministerial and the development sector. She has in-depth experience and expertise in national and international communication, internal and external communication, media relations, programme management, project implementation, gender sensitisation, public relationship and crisis management. 

Prior to joining Friendship, she has worked as the Head of Communications of the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Programme from May 2014 to September 2020. The programme is led by UNDP & ICT Division with support from the Cabinet Division of Bangladesh. 

She has closely collaborated with government officials in advocacy and communication on humanitarian issues; and has also worked in donor representations. She has coordinated with national and international media and in doing so has liaised with the senior leadership of international organisations to shape messaging and communication techniques. Her expertise and experience extend to designing and executing behavior change campaigns within a complex environment. She has also facilitated many media training for journalists and stakeholders. 

Throughout her professional career, she has worked in important capacities with reputed organizations and institutions including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Information, RanksTel, NTV and the BanglaVision TV channel. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s in Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Dhaka.
