Md Monerul Islam Khan is a business graduate with over 20 years of experience in microfinance, micro insurance, and community health sectors. He has led the successful implementation of microfinance programs in Bangladesh, Philippines, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. He has a proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage budgets, and build and manage teams. He is also an expert in microinsurance, community health, and digital financing.
He has a strong track record of success in working with donors, regulators, and partners. He has received training on insurance and different aspects of microfinance fromILO, GIZ, WHO, CARE Bangladesh, Action Aid Bangladesh, ASA University, and BRAC. He has also attended the Inclusive Digital Future: A Summit on Responsible Finance in Action, Kenya by SPTF, 2019; the Inclusive Finance India Summit, Delhi, India, 2020; the Workshop on Digital Financing, New York, USA, 2018; and the Micro Credit Summit in Philippines, Spain, Kenya, and Indonesia. He has also visited number of organisations in India, South Africa, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana, Netherlands and USA.
Monerul has also led and manged several programs and events, including:
• The piloting of VSLA (Village Savings & Loans Association) funded by DFID in Jamalpur District under Chars Livelihood Program (CLP)
• The piloting of a telemedicine for women under community health initiative of SAJIDA Foundation
• The project called Amrao Manush jointly organised by Concern word wide, Irish AID, and Sajida Foundation for the street dwellers of Dhaka city
• The organisation of the International PACE (Product, Access, Cost & Experience) training of ILO microinsurance initiatives in Bangladesh taking Sajida Foundation as a case study
