Ouverture d’un nouveau Friendship Colours of the Chars Pop-Up Store – Opening of a new Friendship Colours of the Chars Pop-Up Store

by Marc Elvinger, Chairman Friendship Luxembourg

Chères amies, chers amis,

Dear Friends of Friendship (English translation below)

Dear Friends of Friendship,

After the great success of our Friendship Colours of the Chars Pop-Up Store at No. 3, Côte d’Eich last October and November, we immediately went looking for new premises! And once again the generosity of a landlord will allow us to pop up right away, this time in the middle of Grand-Rue, at No. 43! Truly difficult to find a better location!

Whereas our team will already be there to welcome you from the 24th of January, we will be happy to be your hosts at an opening reception on Tuesday 28th January between 17.30 and 20.00 – an opportunity for a Bangladeshi food tasting offered by Aparti and a New Year’s drink. We hope to welcome you there in large numbers. Although it’s not essential , a word of confirmation of attendance from you will allow us to make sure that there is no shortage of food to taste!

We must never lose sight of the fact that in marketing Friendship Colours of the Chars products, our primary objective is to ensure a dignified and remunerative job for an ever-increasing number of women from the Chars in Northern Bangladesh who otherwise have very few opportunities to secure an income that provides them with a degree of autonomy. By buying their products – the quality and range of which, as you will see, continues to develop thanks to the training these women receive – you are enabling them to empower themselves and gain recognition within their families and communities.

On the first floor of our store, you will discover the exhibition and sale of our boat replicas, witnesses of a multi-millennial heritage that Friendship strives to preserve by ensuring that carpenters of endangered boats have the opportunity to perpetuate their know-how both by using it in practice and passing it on.

I would like to take this opportunity to share the report “Two Decades of Impact” published by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship in the context of the World Economic Forum in Davos. One may have the temerity to think that it is no coincidence that its cover page features the Founder of Friendship. Our Pop-Up Store in Grand-Rue forms an integral – albeit modest – part of the social entrepreneurship model that Friendship strives to develop on a daily basis.

See you soon then, at 43, Grand-Rue, and hopefully, at the latest, on Tuesday, 28th January!

The store is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
